Viktor Bout, known as the “Merchant of Death” for running what American officials have described as an international arms-trafficking network, was found guilty on Wednesday of conspiring to sell antiaircraft missiles and other weapons to men he believed were Colombian terrorists intent on killing Americans. Bout's legend inspired the 2005 film “Lord of War,” starring Nicolas Cage.

Mr. Bout’s lawyer, Albert Y. Dayan believes that the Jury was judging not Mr. Bout, but the "Lord of War"'s hero. Why? The Chairman of the Jury confessed that she'd watched "Lord of War" and associated Mr. Bout with the illegal arms dealer Nicolas Cage played.
